Bengaluru police have taken significant action against a drug peddling network. This network was allegedly operating from within a prison. In a recent operation, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) seized drugs worth ₹71 lakh. The seized items included MDMA crystals, hydro ganja, and regular ganja. The police have made key arrests in connection with this operation.
The Drug Network
The operation targeted a network believed to be directed by Amir Khan. He is a known drug dealer who is currently in jail. Two accomplices managed the ground operations while Khan directed from behind bars. The police acted on reliable intelligence that led them to this network.
Key Arrests
On November 13, police arrested 28-year-old Fayaz Khan. He is originally from Kerala. His arrest took place in the Nagarabhavi area of western Bengaluru. After Fayaz’s arrest, police also apprehended his accomplice, 35-year-old Gautam. The investigation revealed that both men had been actively involved in drug distribution.
How They Operated
During questioning, Fayaz and Gautam confessed to their methods. They were sourcing synthetic drugs from Kerala. They sold these drugs to a wide consumer base in Bengaluru. To manage their operations, they used social media platforms. Customers placed orders through these platforms. The duo relied on an online logistics company to deliver drugs.
Involvement of Amir Khan
Investigations revealed that Amir Khan continued to orchestrate the operations from Bengaluru Central Prison. He used a mobile phone that had been smuggled into the facility. This allowed him to maintain control over the drug network. Police conducted a raid at the prison to search for electronic devices. However, they did not find any contraband in the facility itself.
Previous Operations
Fayaz and Gautam had previously procured drugs from Amir Khan. After Khan’s arrest, they decided to take over the distribution network. They continued the operations, showing determination to keep the network running. This highlights the persistence of drug trafficking operations, even when key figures are imprisoned.
Impact on the Community
This successful bust has shed light on the extent of drug trafficking in Bengaluru. The operation has revealed how prison-based networks can orchestrate illegal activities. It shows that the reach of these networks is wider than previously thought. Law enforcement’s ability to respond to these networks is crucial for community safety.
