Bengaluru stampede tragedy has ignited a political firestorm as the BJP staged a protest outside Vidhana Soudha, demanding accountability from the Congress-led Karnataka government. The stampede, which occurred during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL victory celebrations at Chinnaswamy Stadium, resulted in 11 deaths and left over 50 injured.
Led by Opposition Leader R Ashok and MLA Prabhu Bhamla Chavan, BJP leaders squarely blamed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, and Home Minister G Parameshwara for the chaos. “The suspended police officers are mere scapegoats. The real culprits are the top ministers, who must resign,” said Chavan, demanding moral responsibility from the Congress leadership.
Calling the administration a “Tughlaq Durbar,” Ashok criticized the poor planning and hasty organization of the event. He insisted that Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar step down immediately and urged the state to increase compensation for the victims’ families to ₹1 crore.
The June 4 incident saw massive crowd mismanagement, as thousands gathered outside the stadium with little security coordination. The BJP has vowed to continue pressuring the government until justice is served and accountability is upheld.
