Over 650 Drunk Driving Cases have been recorded by the Bengaluru Traffic Police following a special week-long drive aimed at curbing dangerous driving practices across the city. The drive, conducted between April 21 and April 27, targeted drivers and riders found under the influence of alcohol and those caught over-speeding.

According to officials, the campaign involved all officers from 53 traffic police stations spread across Bengaluru. A total of 43,253 vehicles were checked during the operation, leading to the registration of 668 cases against individuals caught drunk driving.

Additionally, 185 cases of over-speeding were recorded, with the traffic police collecting a total fine amount of ₹1.89 lakh from the offenders. Authorities stated that this initiative is part of an ongoing effort to improve road safety and reduce accidents caused by reckless behavior.

“The special drive was aimed to curb the menace of drunken driving and over-speeding to ensure road safety in Bengaluru City. This drive will continue further,” the Bengaluru Traffic Police said in an official statement.

The traffic department emphasized the importance of responsible driving and warned that strict action would continue against violators. The special drive highlights the increasing efforts by Bengaluru authorities to create safer roads by discouraging behaviors that put lives at risk.
