SBI locker theft has rocked Bengaluru after a 54-year-old woman, Bindu C.D., accused officials at SBI’s Dollars Colony branch of negligence following the disappearance of her gold and diamond jewellery weighing 145 grams. Despite repeated complaints and follow-ups, Bindu claims she received no help from the bank, forcing her to file a police complaint.
Bindu, who has held a locker at the branch since December 2022, last confirmed her valuables were intact in November 2024. However, during a routine visit on March 28, 2025, she found her jewellery missing. Shocked and distressed, she immediately informed SBI officials, who reportedly denied the possibility of unauthorized access and brushed off her concerns.
Even after escalating the matter to SBI’s customer care and the chief vigilance officer, she received no satisfactory response. Instead, she was allegedly advised to “check at home.”
Frustrated by the inaction, Bindu approached Sadashivanagar police. The police registered a case under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and have begun investigating, reviewing CCTV footage and access logs to trace the breach.
The case raises serious concerns about the security and accountability of bank locker systems in India.
