Nine people were injured in a bomb blast today at The Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Kundalahalli, according to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The explosion, which was captured on CCTV, has prompted a swift investigation.

Authorities are currently determining the cause of the blast. A team from the anti-terror National Investigation Agency (NIA), along with the bomb squad and forensic experts, has been deployed to the scene. Siddaramaiah confirmed that an improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the attack. He stated, “The explosion occurred around 12:30 pm and was linked to a bag. We have confirmed it was an IED, and the investigation is ongoing.”

The police have filed an FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act as part of their investigation.

In response to the incident, BJP Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya took to X, formerly Twitter, to share his findings. Surya said he had spoken with the cafe owner, Sri Nagaraj, who explained that the blast was caused by a bag left by a customer, not by a cylinder explosion. “One of their employees is injured. It seems to be a clear case of a bomb blast. Bengaluru demands clear answers from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,” Surya commented.

The nine injured individuals were taken to Brookfield Hospital for treatment. Karnataka Police chief Alok Mohan has reported that they are now out of danger. The investigation into the attack continues as authorities seek to uncover those responsible for this violent act.
